Psalm 119

(1)

Blessed are those who are declared blameless, whose life reflects the instruction of the LORD. Blessed are they who follow his knowledge and seek him with all their heart. They commit themselves to do right; they endeavor to walk in his ways.

(2)

You have given me guidance that brings joy and blessing should it be followed. Oh, that my way were steadfast in this! Then I would not be put to shame. I would praise you with an upright heart as I learn the meaning of righteousness. I am committed to follow you, for I know you will not forsake me.

(3)

How does a young man keep his way right? By conducting his life according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from you. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

(4)

Praise be to you, O LORD; please teach me. With my lips I recount the Truth that comes from your mouth. I rejoice in following you as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your wisdom and consider your ways. I delight in your ways and will not neglect them.

(5)

Do good to your servant, and I will live to follow you. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your Truth. I am a stranger on earth; I belong in your house. My soul is consumed with longing for you at all times. Remove from me all doubt, for your counsel is my delight; your counsel is my counsel.

(6)

I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your promise. I recounted my ways and you answered me. Let me understand you that I may meditate and wonder. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me and keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me for I desire the way of Truth; I have set my heart on it. Hold me fast, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame. I walk, I run in the path of your instruction, for it has set my heart free.

(7)

Teach me, O LORD, to follow you, then I will do so to the end. Give me understanding, and I will keep and follow it with all my heart. Direct me in your love, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your values and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. Fulfill your promise to your servant for I worship you. Take away the disgrace I dread, for your word is good. How I long for your guidance! Preserve my life in your righteousness.

(8)

May your unfailing love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; for I trust in it. Do not take the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in it. I will always follow you all the days of my life. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your instruction. I will speak of you before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your Truth. I lift up my hands to your name, which I love, and I meditate on your thoughts.

(9)

Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. I remember your ancient Truth, O LORD, and find comfort in it. Your precepts are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. In the night I remember your name, O LORD, and I will hold to your Truth. This has been my practice: I follow your precepts.

(10)

You are my portion, O LORD; I have promised to follow your words. I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your word. I will hasten and not delay to follow your precepts. At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous Truth. I am a friend to all who love you, to all who follow your precepts. The earth is filled with your love, O LORD; teach me your Truth.

(11)

Do good to your servant according to your word, O LORD. Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe your Truth. Before I was afflicted. I went astray. But now I follow your word. You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your precepts. It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. The word from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

(12)

Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your way. May those who love you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. I know, O LORD, that your precepts are righteous, May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your word is my delight. May those who worship you turn to me, those who understand your word. May my heart be blameless toward your word, that I may not be put to shame.

(13)

My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, "When will you comfort me?" Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your word. How long must your servant wait? All your commands are trustworthy; help me, I have not forsaken your precepts. Preserve my life according to your love, and I will follow the word of your mouth.

(14)

Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your Truth endures to this day, for all things serve you. If your word had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. To all perfection I see a limit; but your Truth is boundless.

(15)

Oh, how I love your Truth! I meditate on it all day long. Your Truth makes me wiser, for it is ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your thoughts. I have more understanding than the elders, for I follow your precepts. I have tried to keep my feet from every evil path so that I might follow your word. I have tried not to depart from your Truth, for you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I despise every wrong path.

(16)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your Light. I have suffered much. Preserve my life, O LORD, according to your promise. Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and help me understand your way. Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget to follow that way. Your guidance is my heritage forever; it is the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping to it to the very end.

(17)

You are my refuge and my shield in which I have put my hope. Sustain me according to your integrity, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for you. My flesh trembles in love for you. I stand in awe of your Truth.

(18)

I have done what is righteous and just. Do not leave me alone. Ensure your servant's well-being. My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your promise. Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me to adhere to your path. I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your word. It is time for you to act, O LORD. Because I love your word more than gold, more than pure gold, and because I consider all your way to be right. I avoid every wrong path.

(19)

Your Truth is wonderful, therefore I follow it. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding. I open my mouth and pant, longing for you. Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word, let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from myself, that I may follow in your way. Make your face shine upon your servant. Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for desire to follow your heart.

(20)

Righteous are you, O LORD, and the precepts you have laid down are righteous. They are fully trustworthy. Your integrity has been thoroughly tested, and I love you. Though I am lowly, I do not forget that you are my resource and you are faithful. Your righteousness is everlasting and your word is true. Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your precepts are my delight. Give me understanding that I may live.

(21)

I call with all my heart; answer me, O LORD, and I will follow you. I call out to you; save me and I will keep your word. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in you. My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your love toward me. Hear my voice and preserve my life, O LORD. You are near, O LORD, and your word is your bond. Long ago I learned from your precepts and that you established them to last forever.

(22)

Look upon my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten you. Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your commitment to do so. Your compassion is great, O LORD; preserve my life in your grace and love. See how I love you. All your promises are true and eternal.

(23)

I rejoice in your integrity like one who finds great spoil. I reject falsehood but I love your Truth. Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous word. Great peace have they who love your word, and nothing can make them stumble. I wait for your salvation, O LORD, and I follow your precepts, for I love them greatly. All my ways are known to you.

(24)

May my heartfelt request come before you, O LORD; give me understanding as you have said you would. May my supplication come before you; deliver me as you have said you would. May my lips overflow with praise as you teach me what I need to know. May my tongue sing, as you have righteously revealed yourself.

(25)

May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen to follow your precepts. I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your word is my delight. Let me live that I may praise you, and may your Truth sustain me. I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your promises.
