In the course of my lifetime, I have been privileged to encounter some wonderful people. For some, it has been more than an encounter. It has been lasting friendship, mentorship and comradeship in ministry.

The years with Chuck may have been the highlight of my career and ministry. I treasure the memories deeply.

Dick Halverson, a friend and mentor, I lost too soon. His was a lifetime of ministry among the downtrodden as well as the powerful. For me, he was a counselor, encourager and friend.

Senator and former Governor from Iowa, Harold Hughes, went to be with the Lord in 1996. We enjoyed each other's fellowship in several venues but the most meaningful for both of us I think, were the times in his office at his complex on the Chesapeake Bay. Private conversations there endeared this man to me, and I hope, me to him. I miss him dearly.

I've lost touch with Ned and R.C.. Rod and Brad are still among my closest friends.

I am grateful to have known each one of them.
