Lightning Strikes
Paul D. Morris, M.Div., Ph.D.
There wasn't much in his lifetime to brag about. Life had been difficult, filled with mistakes and bad decisions. Yet somehow, he lived. Because of that, the world is a better place. Who would have thought?

* * *

Lightning crackled its bright, blue plasma through the cosmos reaching through the magnetism of several bodies men have come to call stars. There was no sound, for sound cannot occur in a vacuum. The lightning didn't care. It had no capacity for caring, its raw power surging through the universe, its tentacles scratching the edges of eternity. The blue fire was simply celebrating the creation of a new thought, a thought that in eons to come, would form itself into blood, bone and sinew. Lightning weaving its serpentine web through the endless reaches of space, the visible expression of infinite thought occurring only in the Mind that is God.

The universe is dimensional. I am not certain that it is merely three-dimensional, as men of learning would have us think. There could conceivably be more than three. There could, conceivably, be an infinite number of dimensions. Yet there exists up, over and above all dimensions, however many there might be, a living hegemony, a primordial, predominant power and command authority, that is the abode and seat of the power of God. It is a place, a place utterly unseen and unobserved by tellurian, earthly eyes.

Lightning as the finger of God trickling through stars, pulsars, galaxies, black holes and planets to a spot on a small blue atom amongst the plethora of empyreal emptiness, where its tentacles struck the soil of the earth. A man is formed, and God breathed into him the breath of life. And man became a living soul.

* * *

So, indeed, who would have thought? But there you are. Yes, you. You are the consequence of God's finger of Light. You are a living soul. Nothing, or no one, comes close to who and what you are. To be sure, your life has been filled with mistakes and bad decisions, yet you are the consequence of lightning. You are therefore, in and through Jesus Christ our Lord, an energy that lights the world.
